President promotes Take Back Day
October 26 was National Prescription Drug Take Back Day with more than 4,000 sites across the country accepting unused and expired prescription medications in partnership with the DEA. Given the success of prior Take Back Days, the DEA has expanded the event to now collect electronic vaping devices and cartridges for the first time. President Donald Trump invited people to participate in the event at a donation site near them and contribute to the effort to end the opioid crisis. The tweets have since amassed more than 28,000 retweets and 110,000 likes, spreading information of the event broadly. The previous Take Back Day in April 2019 collected nearly 469 tons of unused prescriptions.
